what's on ： 何かをする
相手に何をする予定かを聞くカジュアルな表現です。友達同士で集まる際に「今週末は何する？」と聞く際に使います。

例）2人は友達のTimの誕生日に何か計画したいようです。
Judy：What are we doing for Tim's birthday?
Rachel： I know he wants to do something, but I'm not sure what's on yet.
Judy：Timの誕生日は何をするつもりなの？
Rachel：何かしたいんだけど、まだ何をしたらいいか分からないのよ。

catch up (with) ： 近況を確かめる
何かに「追いつく」ことを表わす際に使いますが、長い間会っていない友人同士が近況を確かめ合うことを指すことも出来ます。

例）高校の同窓会が久しぶりに開かれるようです。
Nikki：What do you think Madge? Are you going to go?
Madge：Oh yeah, I can't wait to catch up with everyone!
Nikki：Madgeはどうする？行くの？
Madge：行くわよ、みんなの近況を聞くのを楽しみにしているの。

（例文）
Dean：What's on Friday? Have you called the guys?
Will：Not yet. I was thinking we'd get together and play poker.
Dean：You think Jerry's going to make it this week?
Will：I have no idea. He said he'd make it last week, but he was a no-show.
Dean：What's his story?
Will：I don't know, I guess he's just busy these days.
Dean：Well, I hope he makes some time for us this weekend. We have a lot of catching up to do.
Will：Yeah, I haven't seen him in a while.
