このフレーズを覚えたい！ ワンポイントアドバイス

get your hands on (something) ： 手に入れる
何かを手に入れることを表わす際に使います。

例）Hubertはお気に入りの写真家の写真を探しています。
Hubert：Can you get your hands on a copy of that for me?
Greg： I'll try; it's pretty rare though.
Hubert：あの写真のコピーを手に入れることできるかい？
Greg：やってみますけど、すごく珍しいんですよ。

live up to one's expectations ： 期待に沿う
期待していたことが実際にかなうことを表わします。“meet expectations”と同じ意味を表わします。

例）Daneは念願だったイタリア旅行から帰ってきました。
Helen：So was it as good as you thought it would be?
Dane：Yeah, it really lived up to my expectations.
Helen：思っていたのと同じくらい良かったでしょ？
Dane：ああ、期待していた通りだったよ。 

(例文）
Jenny：Have you gotten your hands on that new racing game I was telling you about yet?
Tom：No, every store is sold out. I couldn't find it anywhere.
Jenny：I think the hype has started to die down a bit.
Tom：Yeah, I'll check the stores again this week. How is it anyway?
Jenny：Mmm, actually it didn't really live up to my expectations.
Tom：Oh really? Maybe I won't bother then.
Jenny：Why don't I just lend you mine and you can give it a test run to see if you want to buy it.
Tom：That'd be great. Thanks.
