学校法人アジア学院（所在地:栃木県那須塩原市、代表:山本俊正）が2026年8月1日（土）に開始したクラウドファンディング「隣人とやさしく生きる」は、開始初日に目標金額100万円を達成しました。同法人は、現地滞在中の費用をまかなうため、ネクストゴールを220万円に設定し、9月30日（水）まで支援を募ります。
助成金の不採択を受けて始まった挑戦が、初日で目標達成
アジア学院は1973年の創立以来、アジア・アフリカ・中南米等の農村コミュニティリーダーを対象に、9か月間の研修プログラムを実施しています。本キャンペーンは、その集大成として毎年11月に実施される「西日本研修」の費用を募るものです。
同研修はマイクロバスで12日間かけて往復3,000kmを巡り、水俣、広島、大阪などで日本の「痛みと再生の歴史」に向き合う旅です。しかし今年度は充当予定だった助成金が採択されず、物価高騰・円安による費用上昇も重なったことから、クラウドファンディングに踏み切りました。
その結果、開始初日に目標金額の100万円を達成。多数の応援メッセージも寄せられています。

研修では、学生たちが以下の地を訪ね、公害問題、被差別の歴史、戦争の傷跡など、日本が抱えてきた社会課題の現場に立ち会います。
町田（農村伝道神学校）:アジア学院の教育の源流にふれる
浜松（聖隷福祉事業団、聖隷クリストファー中・高等学校）:医療・福祉のパイオニアの精神を学ぶ
伊賀（愛農学園農業高等学校）:有機農業を教える日本唯一の私立農業高校との交流
大阪（NPO釜ヶ崎支援機構、関西沖縄文庫、コリアNGOセンター 他）:被差別の歴史と向き合う
水俣（からたち、水俣病歴史考証館、きぼう・未来・水俣 他）:水俣病の当事者の声を聴く
広島（平和記念資料館、平和記念公園 他）:被爆体験伝承者から平和の尊さを学ぶ
研修を終えた参加者は「これは、私の国で起きていることだ」「日本を見ているはずなのに、自分の国を見ているようだった」としばしば語ります。国や課題は異なっても、人々が抱える痛みには共通点があるという気づきが、帰国後の活動につながっています。
ネクストゴール220万円へ
達成した100万円は、必要経費のうち交通費にあたる部分です。研修全体の実施には宿泊費・食費、研修費が別途必要となることから、ネクストゴール200万円を掲げ、9月30日まで支援を募ります。

The crowdfunding campaign "Living Kindly with Neighbors," launched on Saturday, August 1, 2026, by Asian Rural Institute (Location: Nasushiobara, Tochigi; Representative: Toshimasa Yamamoto), reached its initial target of 1,000,000 yen on its very first day. To cover the expenses for the participants' stay, the institute has set a Next Goal of 2,200,000 yen and will continue fundraising through Wednesday, September 30.
A Challenge Launched Amid an Unanticipated Funding Gap Reaches Target on Day One
Since its founding in 1973, Asian Rural Institute (ARI) has conducted a 9-month training program for rural community leaders from Asia, Africa, Latin America, and other regions. This campaign seeks to raise funds for the "Western Japan Study Tour," which serves as the culmination of the program held every November.
The tour is a 12-day, 3,000 km round-trip journey by microbus, visiting places like Minamata, Hiroshima, and Osaka to face Japan’s "history of pain and regeneration." However, as anticipated grant funding was unavailable for this fiscal year's program, coupled with rising costs driven by inflation and the weak yen, ARI decided to turn to crowdfunding.
As a result, the campaign reached its initial target of 1,000,000 yen on day one, accompanied by a flood of supportive messages.
From "Transportation" to Supporting "Encounter"
The 1,000,000 yen raised covers the transportation portion of the required budget. ARI has now set a Next Goal of 2,200,000 yen to cover accommodation, food, and training fees during their stay:
Community interaction and testimonial honoraria in Minamata: Approx. 80,000 JPY
Accommodation in Hiroshima (2 nights): Approx. 110,000 JPY
Accommodation at Aino Gakuen: Approx. 70,000 JPY
Museum admission fees and audio guides: Approx. 20,000 JPY

"This Is What Is Happening in My Own Country" - What is the Western Japan Study Tour?
During the study tour, participants visit the following locations to witness first-hand the societal challenges Japan has faced, including environmental pollution, histories of discrimination, and the scars of war:
Machida (Rural Mission Seminary): Discovering the roots of ARI’s educational philosophy
Hamamatsu (Seirei Social Welfare Community, Seirei Christopher Junior and Senior High School): Learning the pioneering spirit of healthcare and social welfare
Iga (Aino Gakuen Agricultural High School): Engaging with Japan’s only private agricultural high school teaching organic farming
Osaka (NPO Kamagasaki Support Organization, Kansai Okinawa Bunko, Korea NGO Center, etc.): Confronting histories of discrimination
Minamata (Karatachi, Minamata Disease Museum, Kibou/Mirai/Minamata, etc.): Hearing directly from those affected by Minamata disease
Hiroshima (Peace Memorial Museum, Peace Memorial Park, etc.): Learning the preciousness of peace from atomic bomb survivor memory preservers
Upon completing the tour, participants often remark, "This is what is happening in my own country," or "Although I was looking at Japan, it felt like I was looking at my own country." Realizing that despite differences in nations and challenges, the pain people carry shares common ground serves as a driving force in their activities after returning home.
Toward a Next Goal of 2.2 Million Yen
The 1,000,000 yen raised covers the transportation portion of the required budget. As accommodation, food, and training fees are needed to execute the entire tour, ARI has set a Next Goal of 2,200,000 yen and will continue seeking support through September 30.
