2027年度より、西武学園文理小学校は、バイリンガルスクールとして新たな一歩を踏み出します。これは、英語の授業数を少し増やすという変化ではありません。学校全体の環境そのものを、日本語と英語の両方で子どもたちが育つ場へと進化させる大きな挑戦です。本校はこれまでも、校舎内の至るところに英語があふれ、外国人英語講師と日常的にふれあいながら、子どもたちが自然に英語へ親しめる環境を整えてきました。2027年度からは、その強みをさらに発展させ、より本格的なバイリンガル教育を実現していきます。
From the 2027 school year, Seibu Gakuen Bunri Elementary School will take a new step forward as a bilingual school. This is not simply a matter of adding a few more English lessons. It is a major transformation in which the entire school environment becomes a place where children grow through both Japanese and English. Our school has already built a strong foundation:
English can be found throughout the campus, and children interact naturally with native English-speaking teachers in daily school life. Starting in 2027, we will develop this strength into a more complete and intentional bilingual education.

学びの中心は、いつの時代も「子ども」であるべきだと、私は考えています。学校は、子どもたちを管理する場所ではなく、一人ひとりの可能性を引き出し、未来を切り拓く力を育てる場所です。西武学園文理小学校は、これまでの良さを大切にしながらも、これからの時代に必要な教育へと大きく進化していきます。知識を覚えるだけではなく、自ら考え、選び、行動し、人と協力しながら学ぶ学校へその歩みを、2027年度からさらに力強く進めてまいります。
本校が目指すのは、英語ができる子どもを育てることだけではありません。日本の文化や言葉を大切にしながら、世界の人々と自然に関わり、広い視野で物事を考え、自分の思いや考えを伝えられる子どもを育てたいと考えています。だからこそ、本校では、これまでの「英語のシャワー」という強みを土台にしながら、それを一段階先へ進め、学校生活そのものを日本語と英語の両方で育つ環境へと発展させていきます。
これからの社会は、答えを早く出せる人よりも、変化の中で学び続けられる人、自分らしく挑戦できる人、そして周囲と力を合わせて新しい価値を生み出せる人を必要とします。私は、西武学園文理小学校を、そのような子どもたちが育つ学校にしたいと思っています。子どもたちが毎日「学校が楽しい」「もっとやってみたい」と感じながら学び、やがて日本のために、そして世界の中で活躍できる人へと成長していく。その未来を、保護者の皆様とともに、ここから築いていきたいと考えています。
I believe that children must always remain at the center of education. A school should not be a place that simply manages children. It should be a place that draws out each child’s potential and helps them build the power to shape their own future. At Seibu Gakuen Bunri Elementary School, we will continue to value what has made our school strong while also evolving boldly toward the kind of education this new era demands. Our goal is not only to teach knowledge, but to nurture children who can think, choose, act, and learn together with others. From the 2027 school year, we will move even more confidently in that direction.
Our aim is not simply to raise children who can speak English. We want to nurture children who value Japanese language and culture, who can connect naturally with people from around the world, who can think with a broad perspective, and who can express their own ideas with confidence. That is why we are building on our long-standing strength of an “English shower” environment and developing it into something deeper: a school life in which children grow through both Japanese and English every day.
The future will not belong only to those who can quickly find the right answer. It will belong to those who can keep learning through change, challenge themselves with confidence, and create new value together with others. I want Seibu Gakuen Bunri Elementary School to be a place where such children grow up. A place where children feel, every day, that school is exciting, meaningful, and full of possibilities. Together with our families, we hope to build a future in which our students grow into people who can contribute to Japan and thrive in the wider world.
