英語でコミュニケーションしたいんだけど、とっさの言葉が出てこない!! そんなアナタに、ビジネスシーンで使える、今すぐ役立つ英会話をレクチャーします。第13回目は人から良い提案をされた時に、使える会話です。

このフレーズを覚えたい！ワンポイントアドバイス

talk (something) up：（何かを）褒める
何かに対して良い印象を持っていて、他の誰かにすすめることを表わします。

例）Leon: Make sure you really talk me up when you tell her about me.
Felix: Don’t worry man, she’s already asked me about you - I think she’s interested.
Leon: 彼女に僕のことを話す時は褒めるのを忘れるなよ。
Felix: 分かっているって。彼女は君のことを知りたがっているから、脈ありだね。

in the sticks：不便な場所、片田舎、奥地
街の中心部から離れた不便な場所のことを表わします。ネガティブな表現として使うことが多いです。

例）Kayla: So do you want to go to Trent’s party tonight?
Jonathan: I don’t know… it’s so far. Why did he move out to the sticks anyway?
Kayla: 今夜のTrentのパーティに行かないの？
Jonathan: どうだろう…ちょっと遠いよ。ところでなんであんな不便な場所に引っ越したんだよ？

then again：その一方、しかしながら
自分が発言をした後にその反対のことを言う際に使います。“however（しかしながら）”や“on the other hand（その反対に）”と同じ意味で使います。

例）Sarah: Have another piece of birthday cake.
Betty: I’m so full I shouldn’t. Then again, it is my birthday, so maybe I’ll just have one more piece.
Sarah:このお誕生ケーキもどうぞ。
Betty: お腹いっぱいだから、食べるべきじゃないわ、でも誕生日だからもう一個だけ食べるわ。

all in：オールインクルーシブ（全て込みの価格）
旅行に行く際、料金に航空券代金、宿泊費、食事などが全て含まれているパッケージのことを表わします。

例）Gail: Welcome back! How was the trip?
Fanny: It was great, but it was all in so we didn’t really leave the resort much.
Gail: お帰り！旅行はどうだった？
Fanny:良かったけど、オールインクルーシブだったからリゾートから外に出なかったのよ。

（例文）
Silas: So I’ve been checking out resorts in Cancun.
Rosa: Great! Oh that reminds me, Julia told me about the resort they stayed at last month. He really talked it up. Maybe we should look into that one.
Silas: Sure, what’s it called?
Rosa: Villa Caliente.
Silas: Here it is. It looks nice but it’s kind of in the sticks.
Rosa: Yeah, it is a little far from the beach.
Silas: Then again, it would probably be good to be a little further away from town. We could avoid all the rowdy college kids.
Rosa: And it looks like it’s all in.
Silas: I’ll email them and see if they have rooms available for our dates.
